The Story of China Palace
Southeast Missouri residents can experience a taste of the Orient close to home at China Palace restaurant, 2123 Broadway Cape Girardeau MO 63701. Former owner John Cai has been serving cuisine from his homeland since he moved to Southeast Missouri in 1992. Born in Shaoxing province, Cai worked as an electrician, mechanic, and welder before working in a dining room. Upon arriving in the United States, Cai began working at the former Golden Dragon Restaurant — the first Chinese restaurant in Cape Girardeau — and became a U.S. citizen in 1998.
Cai and his wife, Ruling Luo, have a son, Johnny Cai. Southeast Missourian business reporter recently sat down with Cai to discuss his journey to America, his experience in the restaurant industry, and his recognition as one of the top 100 regional Chinese restaurants by Chinese Restaurant News.
In December of 2021, Cai’s son Johnny retired and sold the restaurant to Chaonan and Kyle Wise, keeping the China Palace in the family. Chaonan and Kyle look forward to delivering the same great food and service going forward.

Delivery due time quoted at the time of ordering is approximate only and may vary. The restaurant will make every effort to deliver within the time stated. If the food is not delivered within the estimated delivery time quoted, please contact the restaurant by phone. You must notify the restaurant immediately if you decide to cancel your order. If the restaurant refuses cancellation because preparation of food delivery has been completed and/or delivery personnel has already been dispatched, it may not be cancelled and refunded.

I'm staying in Cape for two nights and the family wanted Chinese food for a night, so I chose the China Palace for delivery. The food was absolutely delicious! My kids love the House chicken we ordered, the driver brought the food to your room, don't have to get down the stairs, also the food got here very quick. Highly recommend!
My husband and I order from here quite often. Every time we order over the phone, they know exactly who we are just by what and how we order. When we order delivery the food is always hot and fresh they are very quick and courteous. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the young boy's name that delivers but he is extremely nice.
My family and I ordered take-out from here for our Christmas dinner. It was so good! They give you a lot of food for the price too. We got 4 different meals and several different appetizers, and all of it tasted amazing.
My family and I came to the China Palace after a swim meet at the bubble. We were greeted at the door as soon as we walked in by the super friendly employees. Our food was delicious and the portions were very large. The three of us all agreed that the China Palace will be on our list of local eateries when we travel to Cape Girardeau for swim!
